Trainer Tests

Want to become a trainer on Elysium Stables? Fill out the surveys below for whatever disciplines you'd like to teach. ALL trainers must fill out the basic horse test and the basic rider test; all others are optional. You may try out for as many as you'd like. Please PRIVATE MESSAGE ME (DJ) the tests you have completed. Any tests posted below will not be glanced at, just automatically deleted.

..:BASIC TEST:..

1. List five (5) horse colors and include a brief description of each.

2. Name three equine (3) facial markings, three (3) leg markings, and three (3) body markings. Provide a brief description of each.

3. What can a horse's teeth tell you?

4. Name six (6) equine gaits (two are breed/type specific) and tell the number of footfalls per stride of the gait.

5. What's one reason might a horse need shoes?

6. Name ten (10) horse breed and the country they originated.

7. What do horses eat?

8. What is a hand and what is the maximum height for ponies?

9. Identify ten (10) anatomical horse parts.

10. List six (6) disciplines horses can be ridden/shown in.

..:BASIC RIDING TEST:..

1. Compose a list presenting basic articles of clothing a student should wear to a lesson.

2. Identify five (5) pieces of tack commonly worn on a riding horse.

3. What side of the horse do you mount on?

4. Identify five (5) basic grooming tools.

5. What part of your foot should the stirrup be on?

6. Explain the correct sitting position on a horse who is walking.

7. Name two (2) artificial training aids.

8. What do you call the rhythmic up-down movement used commonly at the trot?

9. While riding, where should the rider's eyes be looking?

10. During riding, where should your weight be kept?

..:DRESSAGE TEST:..

1. What articles of clothing are found in a dressage show ring?

2. What makes a dressage saddle different than an all-purpose English saddle?

3. How might a rider ask for a collected trot?

4. What's leg yielding?

5. Describe what a pirouette is.

6. Describe what a passage is.

7. Describe what a piaffe is.

8. Explain a turn on the forehand and a turn on the hindquarters.

9. What can serpentines do to improve your horses turning?

10. Describe a simple vs. flying change to change your horse's canter lead.
