Piceous walked along eying each stall with special certainty. Her general dislike for other horses would have to be fixed if she were to live here... peacefully.
Micheal walked beside her paying absolute attention to the powerful horse. Exercise was in order no matter how uncomfortable Pie or Micheal were in this new stable.
Micheal clicked the cross-ties on Pie, her new grooming bucket in hand. Piceous sniffed the bucket and its contents wearily.
"I prefer the old one too girl.", she said setting it down and getting to work. Micheal paid special attention to Pie's legs checking for warmth especially. Satisfied that the trailer ride left her no worse for the wear began grooming Pie double fast, with two brushes.

Lyris led Rush into the grooming stall next to the big black mare. The stallion craned his neck to touch noses with her, but Lyris pulled his head away before either horse could get angry.
Hi, there, Lyris said to the woman who was busy grooming the mare. You must have just arrived. I'm Lyris. She quickly stripped off Rush's bridle and clipped on his halter and the crossites, hanging the bridle up on the storage hook. She turned and offered a hand for the new rider to shake.

Piceous's ears shot back but before she had time to bar her teeth Micheal pulled on her short whiskers. Pie's ears immediately shot up.
Micheal glanced at the other women who just went into the other stall. "Sorry about that, it's nice to meet you Lyris. My name is Micheal and this beast is Piceous. She said nodding in Pie's direction on the last note. Micheal again turned back to her own stall adjusting her Hermes english saddle and bridle. She rubbed each down with a soft cloth although both looked new.
"I'm new here" She spit out quickly kicking herself mentally. Like she didn't already know that, good going genius.

Alli walked briskly down the aisle, keeping a tight hold on the frisky stallion that jogged along side. He squealed a little as she led him into a grooming bay. Alli clipped Benny in and then spotted Lyris. "Hello!" she waved and then glanced at the new girl. "Hi there, I'm Alli. I'm one of the trainers here. I take it you're one of the new boarders?" She smiled, studying both the girl and her horse. Benny snorted impatiently and began to paw at the rubber matted floor.

Hey, Alli, Lyris said with a smile, reaching under Rush's saddle flap to unbuckle his girth. It's nice to meet you, Micheal. Where are you from? Rush pawed the ground impatiently. Lyris tapped his shoulder and he stopped. I never cease to be amazed at you, horse. Bex could learn a thing or two. She smiled and set the saddle on the rack, then grabbed a grooming brush.
I'm going to go grab another beastie to exercise once I get done with this guy; would anyone be up for a trail ride after we school?

"Yes, I am", Micheal said nodding to Alli all too happy to fill in any awkward silence.
She turned to Lyris "All around." she said more to herself as she seemed to be replaying memories in her mind. She shook her head just enough to be slightly visible.
She quickly went back to Pie , too quickly, she set the Hermes on Pie's back gently only after she took a few seconds to calm down. Shape up girl, stop worrying about that. She tightened it making sure she checked that Pie didn't suck out. The new saddle leather squeaked loudly. Pie's ears whisked back listening closely to Micheal behind her.
"I'll be happy to go out with you after I work Pie" Micheal said with her attention back on the other women.

Alli walked back over to Benny and placed the Pessoa on his back. He protested with a flick of his tail and an angry face. Alli just glared back at him and he stopped. "I would love to come." Alli said. The trails were lovely the other day. "Anybody feel like timing Benny's courses today? I'm considering trying him out cross country to see what happens." Alli loved to expiriment with the younger horses, trying to figure out what makes them tick.

Lyris finished cleaning Rush up and gathered his tack to take to the tack room. Let me put this monster away and check on Bex, and I'll go get Lisa. She could use the work almost as much as Rush here did. She chuckled as Rush nudged her back toward the tack room and went to set it away.
When she got back she clipped the lead to Rush's halter and unclipped the crossties. He stood stock still until he heard the cue to walk, then he walked calmly beside Lyris in the direction of his stall.
Be right back, she said as they walked toward the stallion's stall.

"I would but Piceous here would get jealous if I started seeing other horses." Micheal said trying to crack a joke, it failed miserably. "Besides, I have to work Pie she's been on vacation for too long. Perhaps another time." Micheal could feel her face heat up as she quickly undid Pie's halter clipping it to her neck for safe keeping. She tried putting the bridle on but Pie would have nothing of this hurrying and backed up with her head out of reach.
Micheal sighed and closed her eyes letting out a deep breath and when Pie settled successfully put on the bridle and latched it. She took off the halter and swung it over her shoulder making her way off.
"I'll be in the basic arena." She smiled weakly. Yeah, like they really cared.

Lyris led the tall black mare into the grooming stall and clipped her into the crossties. Bex's leg was healing very nicely, but she still couldn't be ridden; she had snuffled in Lyris' face and coat and looked dejected. But Lyris had to concentrate; Lisa was a new ride, and she was bound to have some crazy quirk.
Quickly she brushed out the mare's mane, tail, and feathers, feeling for burrs. When that was finished she gave the mare a thorough speed-grooming and went to fetch her Wintec schooling saddle from her tack locker. Carefully she changed the gullet to a size that would fit the broad Friesian mare, then went to grab Lisa's bridle. When she came back she set the tack on the hook and rack and turned to Alli.
I can time you for a little bit while I'm warming up, if you want. I think we're just going to be in the basic arena for now, just until I get the hang of this here beast. It's close enough that I can keep her walking and get some times for you. She turned and set the green saddle pad on Lisa's back, admiring the contrast for a second before reaching for her saddle and putting it in place.

"Alright, I'll warm up in the basic arena, then I'll pop over some of the lower fences out on the course. I'll holler to you when I'm ready." Alli smiled as she carefully fitted Ben with his light blue bellboots, jumping boots and saddle pad and then zipped up her eventing vest. She had never ridden him before, but he looked to be a fiery little boy. She popped a fairly strong bit into his mouth and he chomped away as she pulled her hair into a bun. Alli slipped her gloves on and gave a little tug on his reins.
"See you in the ring." She shouted as she walked down the aisle to the ring.

Right behind you, Lyris said as she finished buckling the bridle's throatlatch. She then brought the reins over Lisa's head and gave her the cue to walk on. They followed Alli and Ben to the basic arena, careful to maintain a safe distance in case Benny didn't like the mare who was behind him.
