"Ok, I'll go fetch him in. See you in a bit!" she said, waving a quick goodbye and heading out to the pastures.

Hope set off again, collecting her reins.
She asked for a canter at F and turned Bex around her leg down the diagonal. Hope cringed a bi and sat back, remembering she was in a dressage arena, not a jump course. She allowed Bex to continue her working canter down the diagonal until a middle. Hope collected her about two strides before X and asked for a flying change at X. Bex lifted up and swapped leads. Hope continued down the line and went well into the corner before turning onto the short side and long side after that, cantering the diagonal again and asking for another flying change. Hope continued the pattern and allowed the mare to walk when the whole thing was completed.
"How was that?" Hope crinkled her nose a bit, thinking the ride felt good and clean, but she was afraid she may have made a mistake somewhere though the ride.

It was good, Lyris said. Your flying change could have been a little cleaner, but that's partly her fault. She's still learning them. Overall I like your seat, but don't forget to keep your seatbones even. Did you notice how she drifted a little to the inside when you gave her the reins? That's because you subconsciously leaned a bit. But it's okay, you corrected it quickly and it turned out nicely.
Go ahead and walk her around a bit with your reins on the buckle to cool her out. You had a good ride, I'm impressed. Are you sure you don't ride dressage? She chuckled.

Hope gave a half smile at her own faults. Bex was a great horse and Hope would be happy to work her during Lyris' break for her wrist.
She held the buckle of her reins and Bex lowered her head and walked out smoothly.
"Nice job today," she told the mare as she seemed pleased with herself anyway.

Lyris waited until Hope had dismounted, then took the mare and patted her affectionately. Good girl, she said.
She started leading Bex out of the ring.
