Hope led Morgan to the jumping arena.

The sand was soft and deep, but not too deep, perfect for jumping.

Hope swung the gate closed behind the horse and clipped the chain so it wouldn't swing open.

You can hop on and warm him up, I'll set up a few things to practice with in the mean time.

Lee walked up to the arena.
"I'll sit somewhere."
She looked around.
This was a nice arena. Her feet felt nice on the sand.

Morgan swung up onto Mikey, careful not to hit him with her foot. She rested softly in the saddle and adjusted her stirrups.
She leaned over and patted his shoulder.

"Lets do good boy. And hopefully I will learn some stuff today. I'm kinda dense when it comes to newer things."

She walked Mikey on the rail with a loose reign to let him stretch out. After reaching the the other long rail, she collected her reins and urged him into a trot. Her commands were simple and light. For she didn't know how soft and sensitive of a horse he was. With all this thought her lower legs slid forward. She pulled them back beneath her and started to post.

Under her breath she muttered to herself.

"Rise and fall with the leg on the wall."

She slowed him back to a walk after she went around the arena. She took a breath and relaxed. She was happy with her mount. She didn't need a crazy horse for this lesson. As she wasn't in the mood to fall off the first time trying to get over a jump.

She moved Mikey up to a trot again, then back down to a walk, then back up to a trot again. She made a circle at the far end of the arena while Hope got everything ready. Mikey seemed to enjoy the warm up.

"Ready to teach me?" She leaned over and patted his shoulder once more.

[DJ]

Okay. You can come right down the center line and trot over these ground poles.

Hope set the last ground pole and stepped through them all making sure they were even and correctly placed for a trot.

Do you know two-point already? Jumping position? If so, you can get up into your half seat when coming down over the poles.

Hope kicked a bit of sand around and looked back up to watch the rider.

Lee watched intentively.
She had never been right there when someone jumped.
Her family was western, so they were more familiar with rodeo and such.
She smiled and waited for the rider to trot over the poles.

Morgan nodded and sat up out of her seat. Making sure not to grip with her knees, she put her weight into her heels. She had read many riding books. She looked over to her instructor.


"Like this?"

[DJ]

Good. Don't lean to far onto his forehand. And keep your shoulders back. Don't let them flop in front of you. We don't want a cockroach. Why don't you take them again a few more times, and I can raise the last one when you've finished.

Hope watched her go through them again, getting a bit better everytime.

Nice job! Hope pulled two standards over and set the last one into a tiny cross-rail. Good, so stay in half-seat when you come over these, and grab mane when you pop over the tiny cross-rail.

Lee kept on watching.
Jumping was very interesting to her.
She wondered of Spike could jump, too.
She wouldn't ask, though.

[Jazzy]

Alli came trotting towards the jumping ring on Ben. "Hope!" She shouted, a worried expression on her face. "Lyris fell off Lisa. Micheal is bringing her to the hospital because we think she may have broken her arm." Alli hated interrupting lessons, but she figured Hope would like to know.

[DJ]

Hope ran over to the fence. "Thanks for telling me!" She ran to Morgan. "I hate to stop the lesson today, but I've just had a rider who's headed to the ER. Do you mind waiting here?"

Hope jogged back over to Alli. "I hate to lay all of the pressure on you, but would you mind putting the horses away if I go to the ER?" She bit her lip and forced herself to take a deep breath and calm down. Although the breath turned into not much intake of air, almost turning into a hiccup.

[Jazzy]

"No problem." Alli smiled and trotted Benny back up to the barn. She hoped Lyris was okay. Lisa could probably use a liniment bath. She must be pretty worked up after the incedent.

"Thank you!" Hope ran down to the parking lot and shoved the key into the ignition. She hurried off to the ER.
