Practice Makes Perfect

[Arya]

Liz patted Song before putting on her helmet. She swiftly mounted and sat lightly in the saddle, shifting to make her and Song comfortable. She looked over and Tori, and explained what she was going to do. I'm first going to trot and canter along the edges. This is just to warm her up and get her ready to jump. Liz smiled and asked Song to trot. The bay mare picked up the right diagnol and had a nice, steady trot going. Atta girl, Liz whisperd. Song's ears flicked back listning to Liz speak. The mare's black mane was soflty blowing in the breeze. Asking Song to walk, she listend. After walking a few laps, Liz asked for a steady canter. Song picked up a canter, but it was on the wrong lead and Liz asked her to stop. The mare stopped and picked up the right lead. See how her inside leg is out first, that means she is on the right lead. Liz tried explaining as much as she could to Tori. Hopefully she would understand.

Tori followed her outside and watched her snap on her helmet. She swiftly pulled her self up and told Tori what she was going to go. She watched her pick up a trot then a canter. For some weird reason they stopped. She then told Tori about Songs inside leg was was the right lead, she kind of understood. She watched them, hanging on the rail paying close attention to them.

Liz then slowed Song down, and walked over to Tori. She could tell the young girl was happy being here. I'm going to jump now. These jumps aren't that big, but that is just because Song is still learning to jump higher yet. Liz gently pulled Song back to the ring and asked her to trot. The mare hesitated, but she did as Liz wanted. Her trot was nice and easy, which made jumping the jump easier. Song leaped over the jump and landed softly. Not much work was needed, but these where easy jumps. I'm gonna have to do bigger jumps or else Song is going to get bored. Liz thought as the mare easily jumped the low jumps. Liz dismounted and put the jumps up to 2feet. She turned to Tori, She is going to get bored if I don't give her some type of challenge.

Cantering this time, Song nicked the rail, but landed gracefully. They jumped a few more times, missing some here and there. To Liz, this was okay since the mare was still learning.

They jumped the jumps. Tori noticed how swift the horse went over them jumps like they were nothing. But the horse was not doing all the work,Liz was doing alot to. They moved as one, Liz qued Song to walk. When she did she raised the bars. This would get intresting,the horse jumped them. When she missed they both kept trying never giving up.

Here and there Liz jumped well and missed some. After about another 20 minutes, she pulled Song to a stop. Song jumped well and Liz was proud. At the moment, she wasn't going to jump any higher unless Hope said so. The mare nickerd out to the horses in the pasture and they answerd back. Liz gently pulled the reins over Song's head and lead her back to Tori. So, what do you think? Did we do well or not. Heck, tell me the truth cause I need all the criticism I can get. Liz smiled and stroked Song's sweating neck. Lowering her head, the mare tried to smell the sand, but Liz pulled her head back up.

She watched them jump some more, she would have to admit she was pretty good rider. Song seemed very alert and calm. When Liz dismounted Song nickered to the other horses in the pasture. Tori watched the other horses buck play fully in the pasture across from them. She them listened to Liz who was talking."I think you gusy did great,you guys were like 1 person,no erm,horse,wait just one thing. You guys looked really good,do you show?",she said giggling at her words. Song looked like she got a good workout from the sweat on her neck which Liz patted.

Liz laughed. Thanks. I have showed English Pleasure and that is it. I'm jumping in shows this year and hopefuly I do well. If not, I'm not going to be upset 'cause I'm still learning and so is Song. Liz could tell that this girl had a big intrest in horses and she hoped that Tori would get lessons. Song grew impatient and started pawing. Liz reacted quickly by saying "no" in a stern voice. The mare still needed to learn her manners, but like everything else, it would take some time. You ready to go back in. I can show you how to groom.

She noticed the girl did only English Pleasure. She nodded and smiled very happy at how this place was. "I would love to learn how to groom song!",she said happily trying to act mature. She laughed at this in her head because she was never really mature. She followed Liz with Song out of the arena hoping she would have fun grooming Song which seemed like a sweet relaxed horse.

Okay, come on then. Liz laughed and opend the gate. Once Everyone was through, Liz closed the gate behind them and walked towards the stable. It was pretty warm out, and Liz took off her helmet wiping her forehead.
