It was strange, riding a different horse to Duke every day now. It wasn't as if she'd stopped riding her own horse, it was just that she was doing more and more flatwork with the gelding now, only jumping him once or twice a week so that he didn't get lazy, and it seemed doubly strange because of that that she was bringing a different horse into the jumping arena.
Music was walking showily as she walked the big warmblood in, picking his feet up and flicking his hooves prettily. The roan liked to show off, and Ella was secretly pleased when she saw the jumps were set to the higher end that the gelding schooled at - the biggest looked almost 5', and that was something she was years away from schooling her own horse at. Glancing over the course, she smiled, halting the 17.3hh horse and trying to work out the best way to get up. She wasn't particularly short, but at 5'5" the gedling was definitely taller than she'd be comfortable getting up to from the ground, and she ended up balanced slightly precariously on a filler before swinging her legs over his back.
"Now, let's warm up a little and then let's see if you're going to be pretty over these."

Nudging the gelding to a walk, Ella began moving him between the fences, letting him have a good look at what they'd be jumping. That wouldn't be for a while, but she was used to Duke, and his unpredicatable desire to spook at apparently random things, and familiarising a horse with the course was always a good idea anyway. When she asked him to trot, Music responded flashily again, throwing his feet out as far as they could go in a showy extended gait. Laughing, the young woman ask him to collect himself and the gelding responded well. After about a quarter of an hour of warming the warmblood up, she began to consider the fences. "Now.. which course should we take?"
