At the impromptu and brief hug, Ella instinctively tensed up a little. She was a friendly person, but she wasn't much of a touchy-feely person, and only tended to hug her closest friends. That said, Garrett wasn't to know, and she forced herself to react, worried for a second that the reason he'd suddenly withdrawn his arm was the sudden tension in her shoulders. "Can't have too many friends," she replied, smiling again and trying to regain the composure she'd had before.
Chief obviously hadn't noticed this, and the lazy gelding was apparently being quite placid today. When the stallion nipped at his mane he simply turned and gently butted the other horse's head with his muzzle, huffing at the younger horse. Ella wasn't too worried - this was an old schoolmaster, he was used to all kinds of horses doing all kinds of things and, after all, he was a gelding. He was much more likely to defer to Hassle than Hassle was to him.

Garrett felt Hassle tug, the horse somehow had managed to loosen his halter and the horse had it slipped onto his neck. Garrett jumped on the horses neck to replace the halter. You prococious snot! He looked the horse in the eye and mentally threatened him. Hassle tossed his head angrily before pinning his ears and attempting to bite Ella in the butt. HASSLE!!! Garrett slipped backwards, the lead sliding through his hadn as Hassle refused to stop. Garrett tightened his grp and tugged backwards. Hassle gave in and stared Garrett down. Sorry Ella.

As Hassle managed to break partially loose of his halter, Chief finally did react. He snorted and sidestepped, dragging Ella with him as he did. The young woman was about to reprimand the gelding when Hassle's head darted towards her, and it was only because Chief chose that moment to drag her to the side again that the young stallion missed. Ella was now a little shaken - she'd worked with Chief for a while now - not a year, but still, a month or two - and she'd never known the gelding to behave this badly, even if she was grateful that he'd saved her a bite on the ass. "Don't worry.." she muttered to Garrett's apology, not meaning to sound rude but probably doing so. "Let's get these two back to their stalls as quickly as possible and I can show you the horses I need to work today."
