Estee led Damien to the pen Glow was in for the time being. He was still flirting with the pinto mare across the fence and Estee was surprised they were both still interested. She clicked to the gelding, who turned to view her, but stayed toward the pinto.
Estee looked toward Damien and figured she'd go in and bring Glow over for Damien to pet and meet. She reached for the teal halter and entered into the round pen enclosure, journeying to the Warmblood. He allowed Estee to slip the halter on. He didn't slip his head through himself as usual, but he stayed still while she slipped it over his ears, popping forward when the halter was laid on his pole.
She brought him over to the gate, and he stuck his face out to the boy.

Damien stayed at the gate while Estee went in to the horse. He assumed that the big black one was hers, given that she'd fetched that one - it was a gelding she'd said before, so that meant a boy.. just withouth all the boy-bits. He didn't really like thinking about that, so he glossed over it and watched the horse slightly warily. Michelle had told him they were usually very gentle, but that didn't mean they weren't huge and probably quite dangerous if they wanted to be, so it was with a slightly hesitant hand that he reached out to Glow's stuck out nose.
"It's alright to pet him, right?" he asked, suddenly. Maybe it was like dogs and some of them didn't like being stroked.

Mhm, she nodded, stroking the gelding's neck. Glow attempted to snuffle a hand, but sensed fear and toned his pushiness down a bit. His coat shone a vibrant black, as he'd only been brushed a few hours ago and he hadn't gotten a time to roll yet.
She was going to ask earlier if he'd ridden at all, thinking they could ride together sometime, but she was assuming he didn't know a large amount about horses if he wasn't sure if he was able to pet an equine. "Are you planning on taking lessons?" she mumbled lightly, not feeling as uncomfortable around her horse.

At her vaguely approving noise, Damien reached out a little more confidently and stroked the horse's nose. It was soft, almost like velvet or suede or a cross between the two and he smiled. The gelding was snuffling at his hand, though a little more hesitantly than he'd done so at first, and it was a nice feeling, the horse's breath hot and slightly damp on his cold, thin hand.
"That was the idea," he replied, pretty sure he'd told her that was the reason he was here today. Well, that was before she'd even been unresponsive, he supposed, maybe she just didn't pay any attention if she didn't really want to.

Glow lipped his empty palms, and stopped in a huffy sort of face, and Estee had to chuckle. The gelding looked away disgusted with the empty hands of the boy. Came to pet me with no food? Gosh. He turned back, wondering if the food status had changed, and lifted his upper lip when Damien stroked and scratched it.
Estee smiled and bobbed her head a little bit, making her bangs fall the rest of the way over her right eye. "English?" she asked the boy, just being curious. Although she couldn't imagine him in a western saddle, the metal image of him in an English saddle didn't seem exactly right either.

When the horse appeared to pout at the fact he had empty hands, Damien smiled again and shook his head a little. Nope, nothing here for him, but he was still happy enough to have his nose scratched. The black horse just wanted attention, even if that meant bearing his teeth in a slightly strange way. The 16 year old was pretty certain that horses didn't show their teeth if they were going to bite, or at least he hoped that was the case. Estee seemed happy enough with the situation, and while she might not be the nicest person in the world he was pretty sure she'd do something if he was about to get his hand bitten off.
"Um.. English, I think. I don't know. I don't think I'm really suited to being a cowboy," he added with a self deprecating smirk. The hat alone enough to put him off.

Estee nodded, wanting to laugh at the image of the boy as a cowboy but kept a straight face, holding onto the horse. She'd have asked the boy if he wanted to have a pony ride or something on Glow, but she frowned at her over-protectiveness of her horse. The last thing keeping her sane could not be ruined. Maybe after a few lessons. Or something.
She shrugged, not sure what else to say. Estee hoped Damien was able to think of a conversation because she was out. The teenager reached out to stoke the horse's neck under his long mane, needing to be pulled for the show season.

Damien noticed the slight flicker on the teenage girl's face. He guessed that was something to do with the mention of him as a cowboy - or maybe just cowboys in general - but didn't bother to presume more than that. At least she was polite enough to keep a straight face.
Once again, silence was reigning. The only noise was the breathing of the horse and so he made a further stab at conversation. "How long have you.. uh.. had him?" he asked, pausing for a secon as he quickly searched his memory for the right pronoun. Gelding still meant male, he was pretty certain of that.

"Four years," she replied, although it felt like she'd had the gelding forever. Ever since her past, which she'd tried to block out, he'd been with her, and she was happy for it. She reached up to rub and eye, just getting slightly itchy, and was careful not to smudge her creamy black line of eyeliner, bordering her bright brown eyes.
"Do you know who you're riding for your lesson?" she asked, not that she cared. She didn't know any of the horses, so it didn't make a difference, but it was a way to prevent the disturbing awkward silences surrounding the air.

This conversation was, by some standards, worse than the one when they'd both been sat moodily in the lounge. They were now both making an effort, it just wasn't really working. Estee was much more involved in her horse than she was in actually trying to lighten the heavy silence. Or so he thought, until she actually made a move and asked him a question.
"I think it was Nell. Know them?" he asked. He wasn't even sure whether the animal was mare, stallion or gelding, though he guessed mare from the name.

Estee shook her head slowly, not knowing many of the horses. There were few she'd met in stalls while they were eating dinner or such, but she only could recognize a few in the paddocks. There were so many horses, it was hard, so she basically tried to figure out the horses he needed to know, and didn't bother with the rest.
Okay. There was now nothing to do. She didn't know what to say. Didn't know what to do. And felt like a complete dork standing there silently. Glow twisted his head back to peer at the horse behind him in the other paddock and pushed his head forward trying to take his head so he could walk away.
"I'm going to leave him alone," she tugged his head around gently and moved to the other side of him, unbuckling his throatlatch on the teal halter and slipped it over his head, watching him wander back to the pinto mare, happy to see her again.
