Hope comfortably entered her small, contemporary-styled home. She took a deep breath and her nose ticked at a smell other than stable. And yet, the smell comforted her, only because it was one of the familiar smells she'd come to love.
Hope closed her glass paneled door behind her and walked over to the wooden bench in her walk-in room. She reached down to unzip the back of her boots and she slid her foot out. She left out a sigh when she finally managed to remove them both. It felt awkward to her to be out of her boots as she'd warn them so often, every single day. Hope wiggled her toes a bit, thankful to be out of the boots.
She stood up, getting silently mad at herself for the unexpected chill on the bottom of her feet as she walked over the cool stone tile. It never heated up well, even in the sun. With her thin, yet tall riding socks, they didn't insulate her feet at all.
She moved onto the wooden floors in the kitchen and dining area which she would not call comfortable, but certainly warmer than the tile. Hope moved to the fridge, hoping to make some sandwiches for the girls up at the stable. She washed her hands and scrubbed at the dirt under her nails.
Hope stood in thought about what to put on the sandwiches. Hope guessed turkey would be fine, and she had plenty of that, unlike the ham and bologna that she was getting low on. Hope began to lay out white bread on her small island in the middle of the kitchen. Hope folded two slices of turkey onto every other slice of bread. Ugh. Now I'll need to ponder about what type of cheese they'll need, also. Hope dug through the fridge to see what she had. A bit of provolone, a bit of swiss, and a bit of American. Hope was unsure of who liked what. She cocked her head to the side and decided to just lay out a deli platter and people were able to choose what they wanted. It'd be easier to make, as well as customizable, so easier for people to get what they actually enjoy.
Hope began to lay the turkey out on a small platter along with the two other meats and three types of cheese. Hope put the bread back in the back and spun it around before moving the hard plastic piece onto the twisted plastic. She sliced some tomatoes and shredded a half a head of lettuce and placed it all on the platter, layout it out to make it look neat and well organized before wrapping the plate in plastic wrap.
Hope took a pitcher from the cupboard and mixed some lemonade with some powder and water, and added a bit more sugar to the sour drink. She stirred it with a wooden spoon for a bit before tapping it on the side of the sink and placing it in another dish in the sink.
She quickly grabbed a few condiments for the sandwiches such as mayo and mustard, and put the under her arm so she could carry everything to the car.
Hope went back inside to sit for a few moments. She stepped onto the plush rug in the living room and sat down onto her over stuffed couch. The swede was soft and Hope sank down into the soft stuffing and gazed out the large floor-length windows, seeing the grazing horses in the white vinyl fencing. She sighed at the lovely picturesque image and went to her home office and grabbed her camera bag before rushing back to the walk-in room to replace her boots. She reached down to slip her foot into the foot and zipped the back. The broken leather formed around her calf easily.
Hope traveled back outside to her car and started the ignition before backing out and driving back up to the barn.
